“What is Plan Change 14?
Plan Change 14 makes changes to our District Plan (our rule book for development) to ensure that as we grow, our community and housing is resilient to flooding caused by extreme weather.
Rules to protect us from flooding are not new – we have had rules in place about building in flood hazard areas for some time. We now have new flood modelling data that maps the entire city, so we can better understand the full range of impacts.
This includes more accurate and detailed information about different types of flood information, including flood hazard areas, overland flow paths, depression areas and flood extent areas.”
